About This Quote

This quote refers to the idea that until a person's 'heart' is in it, you shouldn't do it. There are two possible meanings for this quote: 1) do what you love with all your heart and soul because you're going to be miserable if you don't, or 2) do things that fulfill you, but don't make you miserable. In most cases, the first meaning of this quote does not make sense. When I was a kid, I loved playing sports, but my parents didn't let me play because they thought it would make me unhappy.

In fact, they were right, at least in most cases. If we had hired on me as a coach and we had let me coach our kids, I would have been miserable and probably wouldn't have lasted long as head coach. Luckily for both of us though, I got into coaching and loved it and wasn't terrible on the sidelines.
